HARTFORD, Conn. -- Former U.S. Rep. Emilio Daddario, who served 12 years in Congress and two years as mayor of Middletown, Conn., has died. He was 91.

Daddario died of heart failure Wednesday morning in Washington, D.C., according to the New York Police Department, where one of Daddario's sons, Richard, has been named deputy commissioner for counterterrorism.
